Description:
Lead and manage Boehringer Ingelheim-Animal Health business in Egypt, Libya and Sudan to ensure achievement of its strategic goals and financial objectives. Furthermore overseeing the strategic development for the region and ensuring that the business meets its business and financial objectives, whilst exhibiting effective leadership behaviors to manage the team, adhering to best practice principles and BI's standard operational procedures (SOPs).
Manage and plan the development of resources necessary for sustained of the business results. Working proactively to influence the external environment in accordance with BI’s core values and global strategies and additionally also find ways within the Boehringer Ingelheim to create opportunities for developing the business in this region in a responsible and compliant manner.
Responsibilities:
Business Commercial & Financial performance (sales, forecast, budget, profitability)
- Deliver agreed upon BI commercial operating plans, budgets and forecasts, ensuring sales, expenses, profitability meets or exceeds targets.
- Liaises with the Head of the area in submitting an annual strategic business plan for the region, outlining short and long term business goals for corporate review and approval.
- Gathers historical sales data, together with information from agents and other market intelligence sources, with the purpose of preparing long term sales forecasts and targets for the area, subject to management analysis, review and approval.
- Ensures adherence to the operating budget by developing sales plans and budgets for each country and monitors their performance.
Business Planning
- Develop a deep and practical understanding of customer needs within the market.
- Ensure the development of the company strategic and operating plan and budget that meets or exceeds goals while optimizing BI’s position in the local market and enhances and/or maintains its global position.
- Ensure the optimal allocation of resources needed to achieve the goals and objectives of the strategic plan.
- Ensure the creation and execution of a flexible and adaptive strategic operating plan that incorporates rapid change.
- Prioritize and focus the resources and energy on those activities that will ensure sustained commercial success.
Sales management
- Drives for sustainable growth in each assigned area by maintaining and developing synergetic business relations with agents, key opinion leaders, governmental authorities and other external stakeholders.
- Follows up with the Regulatory Affairs Manager and with government authorities on product registration and required approvals.
- Follows up with Logistics to ensure that orders on hand are appropriately supplied and that adequate stock levels are maintained in the countries.
- Participates in the tender business in coordination with approved agents and logistics, ensuring BI core products are listed and that new products start being requested by creating the need for such products.
- Ensure database of veterinarians, farms, business managers, key decision makers etc maintained to aid in market targeting and segmentation.
Distributors / Stakeholders management
- Manage the distributors’ contracts with the BI legal department.
- Coordinates with agents to ensure stock availability and follows up with logistics, and Finance for reordering.
- Coordinates with Finance on any outstanding invoices.
- Conducts periodic visit to agent’s sites to ensure stock integrity.
- Oversees all activities of agent reps ensuring they are fully trained and aware of BI products and marketing initiatives.
- Oversees and monitors all activities of the approved agents to ensure they adhere to BI’s guidelines, policies and procedures in addition to BI’s code of conduct and anticorruption policies.
- Actively support a continuous two-way flow of information/communication within BI and with the external environment.
People Development & Management
- Drive performance management, people development, talent planning and other processes to lead, motivate and develop individuals as well as cross-functional and functional teams to increase and capitalize on their potential for achieving results.
- Ensure that top talent is recruited, developed and retained and strong succession plans are in place.
- Ensure that all direct reports in the area are managed in accordance with BI’s vision, mission, policies, values and leader behaviors.
- Ensure the development of reward and recognition programs that reinforce high performance.
- Liaises with the Training Officer in HR to formulate targeted learning and development training plans based on a needs analysis for each direct report as well as their direct reports.
- Acts as a role model to communicate BI’s values, as well as core technical and leadership competencies to direct reports.
- Identifies issues that affect employee satisfaction and raises the issues to senior management.
- Builds opportunities for direct reports to suggest, participate in and contribute to improvement, innovation and knowledge sharing initiatives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Health Care field
- 2-3 years of management experience in the Middle East Animal Health Industry
- 6 years + Leadership experience
- Broad knowledge of Middle East Animal Health Industry with focus on Ruminants and Avian
- Sound understanding of finance topics
- Some basic technical / product knowledge

- Fluency in English and Arabic, oral and written
