Job Description:
The British Council is the United Kingdom’s international organization for cultural relations and educational opportunities. Role Purpose
- To promote and ensure quality teaching and effective learning of English
- To support the wider aims of British Council and its cultural relations mission
- The British Council teaching centres in Agouza and Heliopolis (with branches in Nasr City and Sheikh Zayed) continue to expand in both General English (Adults and YLs) and Corporate Services. Classes are offered over 7 days with approximately 3,000 adults and 1,650 young learners per term.
- Egypt plays a major role in the British Council’s ELT work across the whole Arabic-speaking region. There are excellent opportunities for further development in various directions. The centres run CELTA, distance DELTA, CiSELT, CiPELT and various management and general training courses. Sponsorship is available on most courses for suitable candidates. For more experienced teachers there is a supported environment to enter into teacher training and coordinator opportunities.
Essential Requirements:
- First Degree
- Cambridge CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL (global minimum standard)
- Full mastery of English across all 4 skills equivalent to user (CEFR C2) IELTS Band 8/9 in each of 4 sections of the academic module.
Desirable Requirements:
- Adults General English (400+ hours)
- Young adults aged 7-17 (400+ hours)
- PGCE/B.Ed. in Primary
